Privacy policy
Effective 12 October 2026. Applies to the Darshan Booking Helper Chrome extension, Android app and iPhone Safari extension (together, "the helper"). The helper is an independent tool for booking on the official websites of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by TTD or any government body.
Summary
- The developer collects no personal data. There are no servers, accounts, analytics, advertising or crash-reporting services.
- Your family details are encrypted with your PIN and stay on your device.
- Details are entered only into TTD's official booking pages, and only when you tap Do it.
Information you enter
You may save, for each pilgrim: name, age, gender, photo-ID type, and the ID number only if you switch on "Save ID" for that person. You may also save contact details (email, mobile, city, state, PIN code, gothram) and booking preferences (dates, slots, donation amount, payment gateway name). You choose what to enter.
How it is stored and protected
- Saved details are encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM. The key is derived from your PIN with PBKDF2-SHA-256 (600,000 rounds). The PIN is never stored and cannot be recovered.
- Chrome: encrypted data is kept in the extension's local storage. While unlocked, the key is held only in the browser's in-memory session storage, which only the extension's own pages can read. It always locks when the browser closes. In Setup you can also make it lock after 15 or 60 minutes idle, and you can lock it at any time.
- Android: the encrypted data is sealed again with a key in the Android Keystore. App backups and device-to-device transfer are switched off. People chosen for a booking are kept in memory only while you book, and are cleared after 30 minutes idle or when you close the booking screen.
- iPhone: encrypted data is kept in Safari's extension storage on the device.
How it is used and shared
The helper uses your details for one purpose: to fill them into TTD's booking pages on ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in and tirupatibalaji.ap.gov.in when you tap Do it. You review and submit those pages to TTD yourself, and TTD's own terms and privacy policy apply to what you submit. (App-store forms count this user-requested transfer to TTD as data the app "collects" for app functionality; it is optional, sent only over HTTPS, and never reaches the developer.) The helper does not share, sell or transfer your data to anyone else, and does not use it for advertising, credit-worthiness or any purpose unrelated to filling your booking.
The helper never reads, types or stores passwords, OTPs, captchas or payment details, and never presses Pay.
Activity log
To help you see what happened, the helper keeps a short log on your device of step names and error types (for example "date picked" or "verify failed"). It never contains names, ID numbers or form contents. It is not sent anywhere. If you choose to email feedback, you can optionally add this log to the email, which you can read before sending.
Clipboard
Where TTD blocks typing by scripts, the helper may copy one value for you to paste. On Android 13 and later it is marked sensitive (hidden from clipboard previews), and the helper clears the clipboard shortly afterwards.
Permissions
- Chrome: access to ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in and tirupatibalaji.ap.gov.in only (to show the helper and fill forms); storage (encrypted list and settings); clipboard write (copy a value for you to paste); alarms (auto-lock timer); notifications and offscreen audio (an alert and chime when you get through TTD's queue).
- Android: Internet only, to open TTD's websites. Tickets you download are saved to your Downloads folder.
Your choices and deleting data
You can edit or delete any person at any time. Chrome: Setup → Backup & privacy → Delete vault, or remove the extension. Android: Settings → Erase vault, or uninstall the app. iPhone: delete the app. Each removes everything; there is no copy anywhere else.
Children
The helper is meant for adults booking for their families. It may hold a child's name and age only if a parent or guardian enters it.
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy
The use of information received by the Chrome extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
